Whois Privacy Protection, at times also referred to as WHOIS or Whois Privacy Protection, is a service that hides the authentic contact info of domain name owners on WHOIS websites. Without this service, the personal name, street address and email of any domain name registrant will be publicly visible. Supplying false information during the registration procedure or altering the authentic details later will just not work, as doing such a thing may result in the domain registrant losing his/her domain name ownership rights. The policies adopted by the Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers (ICANN), require that the WHOIS info must be valid and up to date at all times. The Whois Privacy Protection service was introduced by domain registrars as an answer to the rising concerns about potential identity fraud. If the service is enabled, the registrar company’s contact info will be displayed instead of the domain name registrant’s upon a WHOIS lookup. Most domain names support the Whois Privacy Protection service, although there are some country-code ones that don’t.

Whois Privacy Protection in Shared Hosting

If you’ve ordered a Linux shared package from us and you’ve registered one or more domains under your account, you’ll be able to enable Whois Privacy Protection for any of them easily and to keep your personal details intact. Of course, this will be possible only with the TLD extensions that support this service. In your Hepsia hosting Control Panel, you will find an “Whois Privacy Protection” icon on the right-hand side of each of your domain names. Its color will show you if a domain name is Whois Privacy Protected or not and in the second case, you can enable Whois Privacy Protection with just a few clicks of the mouse. Thus, you can shield your private info even if you haven’t activated the service during the signup process. You will be able to renew or to deactivate the Whois Privacy Protection service for any of your domains just as easily.

Whois Privacy Protection in Semi-dedicated Hosting

In case you want to conceal the contact details for your domain and you have a semi-dedicated server account with us, you will be able to activate our Whois Privacy Protection service either during the account order procedure or at any time afterwards through our Hepsia Control Panel. This service is optional and can be activated with a couple of clicks of the mouse from the Control Panel’s Registered Domains section where all the domains that you’ve registered through us will be listed in alphabetical order. You can enable Whois Privacy Protection for any of the Top-Level Domain extensions that support the service by simply clicking the “Whois Privacy Protection” symbol on the right-hand side of each domain name. In the very same manner, you can also renew the service or remove it – in case you want to transfer a domain name to some other domain registrar and you need the actual email associated with the domain name to be visible.
